On deciding to become a Jesuit priest

I was in the Air Force from 1953 to 1957. I was stationed in Greenland, Homestead Air Force Base, North Africa, and at the Atomic Energy Proving Grounds. But I felt that I had a call from God to be a priest. So after a lot of thrashing around, I finally accepted the call. I joined the Jesuits at Plattsbugh, New York.

On his work as a hospital chaplain

I worked in Connecticut as a chaplain at City Hospital in Bridgeport and at St Joseph's Hospital in Danbury. I was also in a parish in Bridgeport. Then I later worked in the Boston City Hospital as well as St. John of God Hospital. I also was involved with Clinical Pastoral Education.

On God's presence in his life

God's presence is just something that I just assumed. I enjoyed doing what I have done. I enjoyed the Brothers at St. John of God and I have enjoyed Maristhill very much. You can't help but feel that God is close to you and your work. I feel that I am where I belong, and that God is helping me in my apostolate and in my life.
